Techworker Community Africa (TCA) emerged as a response to the discerned challenges faced by data workers, particularly within the African landscape, amidst the increasing integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology.
Our founders Mophat Okinyi, Richard Mathenge, Kings Korodi, Ogallo Albert, and Terry Mghoi identified a noteworthy trend where AI applications were being harnessed in ways that raised concerns about the treatment of African workers.
Many found themselves engaged in roles involving cost-effective labor in data training for machine learning, often under less-than-ideal working conditions and without due acknowledgment for their substantial contributions.
Through these learnings and in doing this work, we formed our own NGO, for-profit tech and data agency and worker-supporting DAO.
